Hansang Korean Charcoal BBQ Restaurant @ Holland Village
keropok man writes: Last Wednesday was one of those days that we really want to go out! Out of the office.  Everyone was stressed. Some are moody. We needed therapy. We know there are real psychologist that some of us can talk too in the company, but no... they won't understand. We went for the tried and tested therapy. Food therapy! We headed out to Holland Village for our therapy session. We decided to try out the new Korean restaurant at Holland Village. (It was where Sushi Tei used to be.) Just before stepping in, there was some hesitation. It's not the food that we were worried about, but whether we will stink of BBQ after that! You know ...

The HandBurger Original
keropok man writes: Momo and I went to The HandBurger to try out their Gourmet Burgers few days ago. It was pretty interesting! The food was served in a huge 'ping-ping bat' lookalike wooden coaster. Both of us had The Handburger Original. $7.80. I loved those caramelized onions! The meat patty was definitely tastier and thicker than the ones by Golden Arches company. The greens was so fresh and it does look as if it's freshly harvested eh? When ...

Herbal Duck Soup
keropok man writes: This was our office lunch with a few days back. Can you guess who funded this lunch? Money we got from the company's productivity / Office of Quality Management fund! My office mates and I enjoy food and we tend to go all around this little island for lunch. We got a problem though. If we travel out and back, it sometimes exceed the 1 hour lunch time. So how not to get the sack? We think of ways to get things done accurately and quickly. We also carry devices that allows us to connect back to the machines when we are away! It might sound shameless, but we all think we are doing very well! ...

Home Style Chunky Beef
keropok man writes: This was last weekend's brunch at Cedele at Wheelock Place. I had to get some errands done at Shaw Centre. After settling what I had to do, Momo and I were wondering where to have our brunch. We walked around Shaw Centre and nothing fancied us. We decided to walk across the street to Wheelock Place. Again, we walked around Wheelock Place, and nothing caught our eye nor attracted our nose. But when we saw Cedele, we knew that was it. It will be a good choice. I was having a headache that day, so I wanted some hearty soup stuff. I ordered the "Home Style Chunky Beef" $10. It was a good choice. Lots of ...

Lime Infused Confit of Norwegian Salmon, King Crab Terrine served with Watermelon Sorbet
keropok man writes: The FHA2010 Culinary Challenge will be held from 20 to 23 April 2010 at the Singapore Expo. I got an email from the Chef Eric Low few weeks ago. I am in his mailing list because I attended his cooking class at the Community Centre before. He shared that the Singapore National Culinary Team will be showcasing their National Team Challenge - Hot Taste Menu on Sat 27th March 7.30pm at Chef’s Daniels kitchen in Iluma. It will cost $45++ per pax. Chef Eric said he was part of the Singapore Team when he first started out as a chef. He also mentioned that he and Chefs Eric Teo and Louis Tay has been tasting and fine tuning ...

Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice
keropok man writes: The Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice has moved away from the "Margaret Drive Food Centre". It has now moved a few steps away from the 'furniture shop' at 38 Commonwealth Avenue.  Colleague and I came here because we heard it has moved. We were looking forward to some nice chicken rice. It has moved to a bigger place, a fully air-conditioned place. They have even ventured into selling many other things too. Curry Fish Head, Braised stuff, etc... It is like a mini food court now. We were not very pleased with it ...

BBQ Combination
keropok man writes: This was dinner two Sunday nights ago. It was sort like a big family gathering with our parents, uncle & aunt and cousins. If you remember it was a warm night and no one wants to slave in the hot kitchen. We went to Holland Village for dinner instead. It seems that everyone decided to eat out on the hot night too! There were long queues everywhere. It was a 40 minute wait because we needed a table for 11. The rest went walking around while I queue and waited. It was ok for me because I was playing "We Rule" on the iPhone. Anyone of you playing this game too? :-) (My ID is "keropokman". Momo's ID ...

Green Curry at Tasty Thai Hut
keropok man writes: Two or three weeks ago, I ate at Tasty Thai Hut and wondered when will I ever get to try their Green Curry. Well, last night I got to try it. I was surprised it was still available past 8pm.   Their rice was sold out though. The rice they served the curry was 'bought' from the next stall by the the folks from Tasty Thai Hut. LOL... The curry was ok lah. I would say so so only. I wonder if I said that because I expected more after the always sold out ...

Appetizer Side Dish
keropok man writes: This was dinner about 2 weeks ago. We have not been to West Coast Plaza for the longest time so I told sis let's meet there for dinner. Walking round this 'kinda quiet' mall, I noticed Sakuraya is back! Sakuraya used to be on the second floor near McDonalds at the old "Ginza Plaza". It is now located on the first floor of the new "West Coast Plaza" where OCBC bank used to be. This will sound silly to you. After we placed our order, this little plate of appetizer came. We wondered if it's some complimentary stuff because we did not order it. Since it's in front of us, and we thought it was complimentary, ...

Balestier Tau Sar Piah Deli
keropok man writes: I went to my aunt's house few days ago and she offered me some 'tau sar piah'. One of her friend was at Balestier Road in the morning and had bought an extra box for my aunt. I was hungry and I gladly accepted the offer to have some. There are around 4 or 5 shops along Balestier Road that sells 'tau sar piah'. Everyone has their favourite shop and I guess this must be aunt's friend's favourite. I shall not label it the 'best tau sar piah' as some are in the habit ...
