Malaysia

Kedai Kopi Lee Hoe ccf 01
babe_kl writes: I used to pass by Jalan Tun H.S. Lee in the mornings aeons ago on the way to work and couldn't help noticing this tricycle that is forever crowded around with patrons every morning. This tricyle is parked in front of Kedai Kopi Lee Hoe which is located opposite of Maybank Jalan Tun H.S. Lee branch or Soong Kee Beef Ball Noodles (more known as Jalan Silang beef noodles).I know they sell chee cheung fun (rice noodle) but never knew they were good until one of my colleague told me so. I did tried them and seriously, they're one of the better mobile chee cheung fun (ccf) in town.My memory of thick ... read more

boo_licious writes: tiny portion for RM4.50I'm slowly going through all those places to eat in USJ Subang Jaya, so if any of you have suggestions where to eat, do enlighten me! This particular stall had eluded me for quite some time, as I never could figure out where exactly it was. Luckily a quick google search led me to find a map leading the way here. Once I figured out Restaurant Meisek from the main road, I found this place easily.Located in a corner coffeeshop, this stall is not in any way related to the famous char kuey teow stall in Penang. Instead the owners of this stall used to live on Lorong ... read more

Thye Hong Hokkien Mee: Have Hokkien Mee will Travel

Singapore

ieat writes: With Cactuskit, Sumosumo and WahcowHokkien Mee special big plate $10One thing that I have observed about most of the Famous Hawkers around is the fact that they are famous not just because their food is good, but it also has a lot to do with their personality and PR skills.Take for instance this Hokkien Mee uncle who was handpicked to represent Singapore Hokkien Mee in New York during the Singapore Day Festivities in April. Although I use the word "handpicked" it doesn't really mean that he fries the best Hokkien Mee in Singapore which is why he was "handpicked". But more like a combination of his ... read more

Robyn Eckhardt writes: We've been in Jakarta for the last couple days, with not a lot of free time to choose where we eat. But wee we did manage to stop a sate shop that we've been dying to try ever since our last visit, when we noticed that it was packed every single night. The wait was worth it. No time for a detailed post now- we're on our way to a farm a few hours outside of town, where we'll be enjoying the fresh air and doing a bit of work for the next few days. But in the meantime - until I can finish this post when we're back in KL later in the week ... read more

The glorious Antipasto set - parma ham, melon, Caprese salad and grilled vegetables
camemberu writes: Southernoise, Keropokman and I finally got to do our Robertson Quay mini pigout that was delayed for a bit. We wanted to try Da Mario's after reading NinjaHK's review. I'm glad we did. Look at the glorious Italian Antipasto salad (S$30). Parma ham draped over sweet melon, Caprese salad (buffalo mozzarella with basil and tomato), olives, sun-dried tomatoes and grilled vegetables (eggplant and zucchini). All incredibly refreshing! I would gladly come back for this again.... read more

Famous Heritage Hawkers all gather at the Big Eat Out

Singapore

ieat writes: You know how the best Hokkien Mee is probably at the coffeeshop in your neighbourhood but you have never been there precisely because it is so close by? Well, there are probably also a lot of things around Singapore which tourists come to see that you have never been to before. So perhaps it would be a great idea to take advantage of the School Holidays to do a bit of exploration in our own backyard.Explore Singapore is happening between 20 Nov to 7 December and the National Heritage Board has organized a series of events for everyone to learn more about our rich cultural heritage. The one event that I want to highlight ... read more
