vkeong writes: Sea Ocean Restaurant is a Chinese-Thai restaurant in Permatang Tinggi discovered by my sister when she attended a friend’s wedding dinner held there. The food was found to be good even when prepared for a large banquet. So we took it as an indication of being a hidden gem worth trying. Moreover, the fact that [...]

ieat writes: Crab Bee Hoon $28 per plateThe Ah Chek at Seng Kee Bak Chor Mee has been busy experimenting with Cze Char dishes ever since Seng Kee Bak Chor Mee decided to open for the evenings. In many ways, he is doing what our friend Jason at Ya Kwang was doing before he migrated to Perth. For those who have been reading since the Ya Kwang days, you would know how our kakis went to Ya Kwang almost every week to try out his new dishes. These two men are simply passionate about ...

Palak Paneer
keropok man writes: This is the Indian food that the rest ate while I ate the burger at Bar Bar Black Sheep. I am not sure of the name of the stall at all. This was what XLB, Kenny (the friend from KL) that Nic went to order. The rest of us, just conveniently ate some of it! The Palak Paneer. It's Spinach and Cottage Cheese. The colour is a bit different from the usual ones, but the taste is similar. If you never tried it, we always think the cheese taste like the hard toufu (tau kwa) that the Chinese usually have.  ;-)...

Back to Luang Prabang

Malaysia

Robyn Eckhardt writes: Two days days ago we flew from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang. We were last here in 1995. As might be expected, things have changed.Perhaps the biggest shock is the town at daybreak. Almost without exception, in Asia rising before dawn has guaranteed us peaceful near-empty streets. Not so here. By 6:30am Luang Prabang is buzzing with tourists, alone and in guided groups, many toting cameras and stalking alms-collecting monks like hunters in a wild game park. Not a pretty sight. But the small morning market in ...

NKOTB writes: Apart from Ivy’s Kitchen, I have not really explored the area – Burmah Square; and I’ve heard so much about Isaribi Tei from friends and colleagues, this is only my very 1st visit.Probably some high expectation from what I’ve heard, thus the food expectation was slightly disappointed me. To conclude it, just visit the place without any expectation probably that will make oneself more happy.Another reason could be the kitchen is closing at the required time, thus, the quality is way below the ...

myfoodsirens writes: With a new cafe in Suntec City (just opposite TCC by the main entrance) serving both savoury and sweet, Gobi is more than a desserts patisserie now. Kind of Bakerzin/Canele-ish, isn’t it? Set lunches/dinners are affordably priced (around $14.90++/$18.90++) for 3 course but I’m more into trying the cakes and pastries they are well known for. Like strawberry shortcake, black forest cake is one of those desserts I can easily say no to since I don’t like cream all that much. But Gobi’s version is one of those rare ones I like, mainly cuz the Black Forest ($7.30++) is unconventional with both jelly and cherries embedded in kirsch cream. Flavour of the cherry liquer is distinct ...

thenomadGourmand writes: Elaine left a comment on my previous post on Betty’s. (Post HERE still under my old blog) Had a bad dining experience there. Went there last night with 3 friends to have a try on the food since everyone gave them thumbs up. When I reached there around 6.30pm, only 1 table was occupied. Guess I was early for dinner. I was impressed by the shop deco and the menu they offer. While waiting for the food, more people came and finally every table was filled up. While we are trying to push all the food inside our terribly full tummy, the daughter kept asking us “Any further order?” She asked that every ...

I do buy a lot of stuff especially when I go for travelling because those things might not be available in Malaysia, ( is it a fact or or is it an excuse??)The last trip to Perth, I bought quite a lot of things....haha..these are some of them. The 100% pure lavender oil, jojoba oil, eucalyptus oil, organic sunblock.I would like to highlight the lovely eucalyptus oil I've got.
