Malaysia

Shin Kee - beef noodles
babe_kl writes: Whilst I was busy at my client's some months back, I took the opportunity to get down to Chinatown (Petaling Street) area to soak up the atmosphere during lunch or after office hours. I like to work in this part of the city as the food choices are endless! Ranging from chicken rice, wantan noodles, chee cheung fun, yong tau foo, claypot loh shue fun and siew yuk noodles, exotic food, fabulous curry laksa, and not forgetting the happy happy pastries for dessert or snack.Other than Soong Kee, I also like the beef noodles at Shin Kee Beef Noodles Specialist at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock opposite ... read more

Review: Let’s Log ‘n Roll

Malaysia

Log 'n Roll
babe_kl writes: After our share-share dinner, we bumped into my ex-colleague at one of those kiosks at LG, Midvalley Megamall. I was surprised to see him busy selling his wares there hahaha... but it's a good thing! I was quite happy to see the wares he's peddling... one of my fave food! It's chee cheung fun (rice noodles) that came in pre-packaged form. Just need to steam or microwave them. How convenient!Apparently all these while his family have been the producer and supplier of chee cheung fun. It is only a few days back they started to retail the pre-packages at a kiosk with the name Log 'n Roll.... read more

Kai Yong - Chicken Rice
babe_kl writes: **Non-Halal**I was wondering around Petaling Street area looking for stuff and I got hungry along the way. I was too lazy to walk further for a chee cheung fun fix with the current HOT wave going on in the city, so I dropped by this place called Kai Yong. If I remember correctly, my ex-colleague said this is one of the shop he patronises after school instead of Nam Heong. Since I always go Nam Heong, I decided to head for this Kai Yong instead, for a change. Kai Yong's shoplot has a very very tall ceiling which made the place looked roomy and airy. I sat at the side which is quite warm but cool ... read more

Max Gourment Dim Sum Restaurant

Malaysia

duck drumstick noodle
vkeong writes: Everytime I go to Queensbay, food is a problem. They are either fast food only or too expensive for a normal meal. Then there are those which are nice and reasonable but often too packed making the waiting time unbearable. Luckily Shanghai Ding Tai Feng and Max Gourmet Restaurant are available within walking distance from Queensbay. You should really try the restaurants along the road leading to Queensbay, they are pretty good for me so far. Parking is expensive as they are privatized but you can always park in Queensbay for RM1 per entry, ha! Max Gourmet mainly focuses on dim sum and HK-style food. My choice ... read more

Madras Lane Curry Laksa
babe_kl writes: Since everyone went on a happy meal, so I may as well join the bandwagon...I went to Madras Lane, again sometime back... Other than CCF and YTF; I also love the assam laksa and curry laksa but had to sweat thru lunch as it's HOT eating curry under the zinc roof!YozoraNiteSky ordered a bowl of curry laksa and I was undecided since I was wearing a white shirt that day. Anyway, I succumbed to the temptation and had this absolutely sinful bowl of curry laksa!!!If not mistaken, this bowl is from the stall, ... read more

Restaurant Sai Gong

Malaysia

teckiee writes: One of my colleagues brought me here to celebrate his 10th anniversary working in the company. It's not some where near work, so we all drove to Restaurant Sai Gong in 63 Jalan 1/62D, Medan Putra Business Center in Bandar Menjelara Kepong after work. It didn't take me long to locate the place because the restaurant is in the same area where The Bird is. (Bookings can be made by calling 016-6000655)The dishes I try were just awesome so I just had to bring my family here to try. I keep ranting how great the food is until my sis had to shut me up LOL! ... read more

Belacan beehoon and ABC in Sarawak

Malaysia

belacan-beehoon
vkeong writes: Belacan beehoon is a hawker food only available in Sarawak if I am not mistaken. I knew Sarawak had kolo mee, Sarawak laksa, kampua but certainly not belacan beehoon. When I first heard the name, I thought it would be something like belacan fried beehoon. Allen, my host during my Kuching trip told me that this is the most popular place for belacan beehoon. When Kuching folks think belacan beehoon, they think Ah Kheng in Jubilee Ground. Very true.. people were thronging this place even at 3PM well after lunch hour. Well as you can see, it’s very simple.. pour the belacan gravy over the beehoon and serve with ... read more

scones
Lyrical Lemongrass writes: She baked me scones. Growing up in Klang, we'd meet up in our residential "tamans" and cycle past parks and houses, sometimes accompanied by the neighbourhood dogs that chased us but hardly ever caught up with us as we sped along the tarred and potholed roads. I am not quite sure if we had a mission then, other than the pure bliss of feeling the wind blow against our faces and through our hair. Our skin bore evidence of falls; scars and scratches reminded me of a distant and carefree childhood. Those tomboyish years didn't prepare me for an adulthood of feminity and grace. But grow up we did.... read more
