Review: Sin Lok Restaurant

Malaysia

SL - Sin Lok Restaurant
babe_kl writes: **Non-Halal**Sin Lok Restaurant is amongst the older generation of Chinese restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. It is located in Kuala Lumpur's first shopping complex - Ampang Park! One of our manager used to bring our client nearby Ampang Park to Sin Lok for lunch. If I'm around for meetings, I will get to go too hehehe... Their dishes are very much old school and by far I can vouch that they serve the best roasted suckling pig in town! I guess the reason being that they will only roast it before serving even during huge wedding banquet!... read more

Robyn Eckhardt writes: A strange title for a post, perhaps, but when I started researching my article on yu sheng I had trouble finding anyone to describe for me their ideal version. Most Malaysians and Singaporeans, it seems, are somewhat indifferent to this dish that is so integral to Chinese New Year in Malaysia and Singapore. Yes, it's lucky and yes, it should be a part of any New Year banquet, but the consensus seemed to be that it rarely inspires cravings. And I know why. Robyn Eckhardt writes: ...in Singapore and Malaysia, at least, for yu sheng (yee sang, in Cantonese), a dish of raw fish tossed - for luck - with sweet, sour, fresh, fried, and crispy ingredients. Both Singaporeans and Malaysians lay claim to this Chinese New Year banquet fixture, but it probably originated in China's Guangdong province. Read more here. read more

boo_licious writes: Button Mushrooms (RM10++)It has been a while since we dined at Groove Junction hence one late night we decided to drop by for dinner. We were actually keen to try the items we had sampled the last time and also taste the Arirang which was one of the dishes highly recommended. However we discovered they had recently changed their menu in October which now features Spanish tapas dishes.Delicious Fried Cheese (RM15++)We ordered just a two tapas dishes since it was so late - the fried button mushrooms in olive oil and the fried cheese. boo_licious writes: Mango Salad (RM13)Heavy editing involved with the photos this time as the light at this place wasn't too good. When the Banquet opened at Bangsar Village II, everyone was super excited. This was purely from the good vibes everyone experienced from Cafe Cafe owned by the same people. Although they may be sisters, they're total opposites of each other in terms of decor. While one is all dark with a Moulin Rouge inspired decoration, the Banquet is more like a garden cafe. Here, the palette is fresh white with mirrors to give it a sense of space. There's two areas to dine at - within the shoplot with ceiling to floor mirrors and a wooden deck within ... read more
