Lyrical Lemongrass writes: We had an afternoon packed with activities and our schedule was very tight.  3.00pm:  Wake up from afternoon siesta.  4.00pm: Get flowers.  4.30pm:  Laundry.  5.00pm: Check venue for party next weekend.  6.30pm: Visit mum and dad.  8.30pm: Dinner with family. At 4.30pm, as we were driving towards our next destination, the husband spotted a new restaurant at Lorong Kurau, Bangsar. “Let’s drive past it,” he suggested. “Okay.”  It would only take an additional minute. “It’s a Thai restaurant,” he said. “Do you feel like stopping for a quick snack?” My eyes lit up.  Thankfully, my husband and I are like two peas in a pod (except that I’m not bald and he is) and we’re both adventurous in our food explorations. It would ... read more

Penang Curry Mee @ Lorong Seratus Tahun

Malaysia

lorong seratus tahun curry mee
vkeong writes: This morning I finally get to try the famous curry mee at Lorong Seratus Tahun. As weird as it may sound, there is really such a street in Penang next to to McAllister Road. I have been wondering the exact location of this stall and didn’t realise I have drove pass that area so many times! By the way, I will be leaving my job for Cyberjaya (again!) soon so I am trying my best to try all the good food in Penang while I still have the time. And my blog would most probably concentrate on KL and Selangor food instead already..... read more

Kai Yong - Chicken Rice
babe_kl writes: **Non-Halal**I was wondering around Petaling Street area looking for stuff and I got hungry along the way. I was too lazy to walk further for a chee cheung fun fix with the current HOT wave going on in the city, so I dropped by this place called Kai Yong. If I remember correctly, my ex-colleague said this is one of the shop he patronises after school instead of Nam Heong. Since I always go Nam Heong, I decided to head for this Kai Yong instead, for a change. Kai Yong's shoplot has a very very tall ceiling which made the place looked roomy and airy. I sat at the side which is quite warm but cool ... read more

Malaysia

ayam goreng berempah
babe_kl writes: Last Friday, I was checking out the stalls that mushroomed along Jalan Tengah (the road in between Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Raja Chulan (behind MAS Building/Aetna/Weld). It's very carnival like... errr not sure what they call these since they are opened only during lunch hour. It's something like pasar malam with stalls selling clothes, cloth, toys, plants, fruits, and of course food.I walked up and down the road looking for the chee cheung fun man but alas he wasn't there, but smelt something terrible nice... my colleague pointed me to the direction of a tent in front of Aetna, it gotta be Aetna since I only saw the bright orange wall behind this stall hahahaha... She told ... read more

Lyrical Lemongrass writes: ‘Delicious!’ I exclaimed, as I savoured the moist chicken patty in my mouth. I found out later that it was because they had used the whole chicken and not just chicken breast to make the patty. The thin sesame sprinkled buns were toasted to a slight crisp and liberally buttered. The pickles contrasted well with the burger. I was told that they made their own pickles. ‘Smoked salmon on chicken?’ I questioned. ‘What an unlikely combination!’ I was getting more and more mystified by the second. But this non-believer was soon shown the light. The cheesy sauce wrapped up all the flavours and made my burger encounter an out-of-body ... read more
