all forgiven

Malaysia

team bsg writes: Its like a kind of time warp.People zooming across the Highway at 145 kph passing by quickly mostly. They either go straight to Ipoh or turn right to Pangkor.People will tell you , there's nothing here except peace & quiet. Maybe the rain if you are lucky . Things are pretty old here, like the first Museum , earliest Hill Station , da pioneer Golf Course and so on.We have heard , in fact tried some shops in KL/PJ ( USJ Taipan ) though proudly announcing its quaint charms like the fish balls , popiah and some kind of noodles. There has got to be something good right ... read more

boo_licious writes: Follow the signboard to budget Indian foodI often practise the belief, if you want to get good food, only the locals will know where to find it. It has worked for me with Japanese restaurants, Middle Eastern food and etc. Apply this same principle and you will discover cheap and authentic Indian food. All you need to do is look for the word "mess" around Lebuh Ampang, and you will stumble upon a great secret that has been kept from others.fried fish just like mum makes at homeA mess is usually a no-frills place located on the first floor of a two storey shophouse. Unlike restaurants ... read more

The red wine noodle, sweet sour ribs and tofu soup marked at the corner of the menu is a sure giveaway of the startling Hock Chew influence here.... read more

He went round and saw many interesting stuff so we decided to bring our city boiboi to check things out. They have allocated some free parking lots around. team bsg writes: If you have the time it is a good idea to take the Monorail then take a casual walk backStreets in Kuala Lumpur. For one thing you do not have to feel like you are being trapped left right and centre on the main roads with car-lorry-bus loads and then compete with hordes of jostling hurrying people for dunno what. For example have you ever seen this nice teapot somewhere off Jalan Bukit Bintang , along a road called Jln Berangan ? Actually its near a famous Hotel and beside this new Nirvana. Lots of gushing water here in Tropical Kuala Lumpur ! ... read more

The Goat, The Bad and The Ugly

Boer goat
Lyrical Lemongrass writes: 1.  Beep.  Beep.  “Please call home when u are free.”  When dad sends this text message to my mobilephone, his request could range from “Your mum is in the hospital, so if you are free, please visit” to “Can you buy us plane tickets to London” to “Are you coming over for dinner this weekend?”.  The urgency may differ for each request, but his text message is always the same.  I think he has it saved on his mobilephone. Fearing the worst, I called. Me:  What’s up, dad? Dad:  Have you heard of Boer goat meat? (Note:  This conversation takes place in the middle of my rush period when I’m desperately trying to finalise a report.) Me:  Huh?? Dad:  You haven’t been reading the ... read more
