I had to work on Friday night - loads of good Chinese food but unfortunately I couldn't bring him along.Starting out with deep fried prawn and codAs Splashie Boy is a huge bovine fan, I knew it had to be Wagyu or Kobe beef for him. Since it was all about steaks, we decided to venture into a steakhouse vs a fine dining restaurant. I had heard good things about Angus Steakhouse at Pavilion and decided we'll just give ... read more

Dain Ti Hill

Malaysia

teckiee writes: It was a Saturday afternoon we my cousin and I ended up in Pavilion KL for lunch. My cousin mentioned something about a famous Taiwanese restaurant, and I on the other hand wanted to eat at a restaurant that I have passed by way too many times. Coincidently, we were referring to the same place.Dain Ti Hill on the 6th floor, right beside Wong Kok Char Chan Teng. Oat Milk Tea (RM10). Tasted like normal 'teh si ping'. I can't really taste any oat in that milk. The oat grain on top was soft and soaked in milk after a few sip of the milk. Nothing ... read more

BBQ Quarter Chicken
vkeong writes: I have been wanting to try Tony Roma’s for long already, so I took the chance when I was in Pavilion a while ago. I don’t know much about Tony Roma’s actually, I thought it should be similar to other Western food restaurant like TGIF or Chilis. The biggest difference I notice among them would be the atmosphere. Tony Roma’s is quiet and somewhat formal, TGIF is party-like while Chilis is somewhere between them. Food wise, it is definitely more upscale and same goes for the price. Ordering ala carte would be too expensive. So, I decided to take the set lunch which is advertised as costing less than RM20 instead.... read more

boo_licious writes: Uhu hu cheesecake boxNo pies for the momentous occasion of the new Cabinet line up, but I thought these fluffy cheesecakes will be a great substitute. Talking about the new Cabinet ministers, I had a shock just now, when I returned home. There were 4 police outriders, hanging around the apartment lobby. Later, when I saw the announcement on the Cabinet, I realised why, as one of the residents, got appointed as a minister. I guess one must get used to the prescence of outriders soon around this area.Promoter in sakura pink kimonoBack to food - discovered these Uhu! Hu! Pavilion KL @ Bukit Bintang

vkeong writes: During my trip to Kuala Lumpur last week, I also visited Pavilion KL in Bukit Bintang. My first impression on Pavilion was huge, grand and very expensive. I don’t think I can afford anything inside lol. And maybe because it was a weekday, there weren’t as much people I expected. Food Republic, the classy food court is almost a dream come true for food bloggers like me, it has almost everything! The exorbitant price is something to think about though. I can only display the photos which fit my blog’s width. So, please go ahead and click on them if you want a bigger and better view.... read more

boo_licious writes: A short one for the beginning of the week. We were down at Pavilion yesterday for lunch, catching up with friends. It was extremely good fun. After lunch, we wandered around and I decided to go downstairs to try this particular tart as Paprika keeps raving about it.The range of egg tarts have expanded to include this Matcha version and coffee plus teh tarik. Managed to snap some pictures of the place, which I didn't get the last time I blogged about this place. Conclusion on the tart - it was good, not very strong tea taste, a light ... read more

an oldy Modern coffee shop

Malaysia

team bsg writes: noodles & rice , breakfast for 3 Its always refreshing when the latest hippiest eating joints pop up with their one-up-manship manouevers . Watch how many cool cafes have sprouted in the gleaming gigantic shopping malls of late, such as the tummy-breaking jaw-dropping lower ground KL Pavilion Food Republic . Don't you dare accidentally drop one of those giant designer plates and bowls and shatter them into tiny pieces here for they will probably cost more than the tiny boutique ( but hawker) food you were then holding in your trembling hands ! So its always very nice if you meet a fresh little kopitiam far far away for a change. Especially if it tempts with mostly Malay kampung delights plus some Nyonya ... read more

The C. Club, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

Grilled aged fillet of beef
Lyrical Lemongrass writes: Walking into The C. Club (an offspring of The Carat Club), the first question that came to my mind was “Who the h*%$ was the I.D. guy?” On one hand, some of the furniture were lovely. I loved the Kartell Bubble Club armchairs by Philippe Starck and the droolworthy Louis Ghost chairs also by the same awesome designer, but if one wanted to carry the same polycarbonate theme throughout the restaurant, at least choose something better than the plasticky silver bamboo-like chairs and the faux marble laminated tables that not only appeared unstable, but were unstable. Forgive me if I’m wrong, but they certainly didn’t resemble designer furniture, unlike the immediately recognisable Starck pieces. And ... read more
