The Goat, The Bad and The Ugly

Malaysia

Boer goat
Lyrical Lemongrass writes: 1.  Beep.  Beep.  “Please call home when u are free.”  When dad sends this text message to my mobilephone, his request could range from “Your mum is in the hospital, so if you are free, please visit” to “Can you buy us plane tickets to London” to “Are you coming over for dinner this weekend?”.  The urgency may differ for each request, but his text message is always the same.  I think he has it saved on his mobilephone. Fearing the worst, I called. Me:  What’s up, dad? Dad:  Have you heard of Boer goat meat? (Note:  This conversation takes place in the middle of my rush period when I’m desperately trying to finalise a report.) Me:  Huh?? Dad:  You haven’t been reading the ... read more

YK - durian tarts
babe_kl writes: **Non-Halal**Last weekend I had to FFK the JFKA session cos we decided to drive up the hill for some, well I won't say it's relaxing, perhaps... fun? Hubby and I were happy cos boiboi said he was super duper happy. I'm sure he does but seriously it's not that fun anymore, for me at least, going round and round on children rides... quite harrowing when you have a crazy little terrorist that spin the bloody teacup in detrimental speed!!! We were glad to see him smiling ear-to-ear bumping around in the children bumper car ride. He did that 3 rounds before we dragged him away for dinner (more on that later). Being the kiasu parent, we ... read more

Prawn mee
babe_kl writes: Come lunch time, Changkat Ceylon, Lorong Ceylon and Jalan Mesui will be abuzz with activities. It is very popular amongst the office workers around this area to have their lunch at the hawkers at these stretches. I used to come here very often when my office was nearer. These days I will only come here once in a long while due to the distance. There are a lot of good stuff around here ranging from the mixed rice stall located within a Chinese temple along Changkat Ceylon (that leads to Wisma MPL's carpark) which sells vegetarian dishes on the 1st and 15th of the lunar calendar. No doubt the dishes are very tasty but it's super duper expensive, ... read more

Penang Curry Mee @ Lorong Seratus Tahun

Malaysia

lorong seratus tahun curry mee
vkeong writes: This morning I finally get to try the famous curry mee at Lorong Seratus Tahun. As weird as it may sound, there is really such a street in Penang next to to McAllister Road. I have been wondering the exact location of this stall and didn’t realise I have drove pass that area so many times! By the way, I will be leaving my job for Cyberjaya (again!) soon so I am trying my best to try all the good food in Penang while I still have the time. And my blog would most probably concentrate on KL and Selangor food instead already..... read more

boo_licious writes: Butter Cupcake with ButtercreamI confess I have a weakness for pretty and cute stuff! Ever since, I read about Pretty Frosting in the NST and ling239's blog, I have been itching to try their cupcakes.Butter Cupcake with ButtercreamMy first attempt was met with dissapointment as the stall was not opened one Sunday since they were busy for an event. Luckily I went back another time, as I struck gold. I was speechless when I saw their pretty cupcakes - everything looked so fantastic, I had a hard time limiting myself to just 6 cupcakes.Carrot Walnut CupcakeThere's 4 ... read more

boo_licious writes: Nasi LemakContinuing my Petaling Jaya trail of great food is this particular mamak stall. Located at Restaurant Sun Fatt Kee, just across from Seapark market, business here starts when night falls. They share the premises with a bak kut teh stall and during the day, you can get excellent Teochew porridge here with fried clams, assam fish and etc. Seems they're well known among PJ-ites and is also known as the "Maybank mamak", since they're right in front of the bank.Famous Fried ChickenTables and chairs will be set up around the shop and even outside on the side of the road. Every night it is super ... read more

Apam Balik @ Seapark Market, Petaling Jaya

Malaysia

boo_licious writes: I reckon, I'm truly a Petaling Jaya girl at heart. Even though I live in Kuala Lumpur now, I still inevitably find myself trawling the streets of Petaling Jaya for food. One of the stalls I grew up eating at, is this apam balik stall located next to Seapark Market. Since Seapark Market was the middle point of a daily school route for my mother, she used to frequent this place for her vegetables, meats and supplies. Just at the side of the market, in the morning when it is bustling with people is a small lane filled with stalls selling nasi lemak, fried noodles, local kueh, soy milk and tau fu fah and this stall, ... read more

boo_licious writes: Canton-I exterior Along the Promenade, which connnects the old wing to the new wing of 1 Utama Shopping Centre, a number of new eating places have opened - Pasta Zanmai, Carl's Jr, a vegetarian restaurant and Canton-I. Canton-I interior Canton-I is supposedly owned by the highly popular Dragon-I and opened in December 2007. A different menu is served here - noodles, rice, congee, dim sum items (fried, pan fried and steamed) and desserts. Similar to Dragon-I outlets, part of the frontage of the restaurant is the open kitchen. Here at Canton-I, you get to see the barbequed meats and the chefs cooking noodles. A small take away area for pastries is tucked at ... read more

boo_licious writes: Chopsticks with pasta?Regular readers of my blog should know I am a great fan of the Rakuzen group of restaurants and Japanese food. Hence, when I heard about their latest venture at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, I knew it would be where I'll be dining on my day off. Instead of sushi, this time round, the place serves pasta, hence the name Pasta Zanmai.Grind your own black sesame seedRight opposite Sun Moulin Bakery and next to Carl's Jr on the Promenade side, which connects the old and new wings together, it can be hard to spot this place as it is hidden behind Shojikiya's Japanese foodstuff. Revisiting Kampachi @ Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur

Malaysia

boo_licious writes: Soft KaniMaki (RM36++)We had lots of fun last Friday - another Floggers get-together. This time, it was a big big party for Christmas at My Elephant by Doodee at Section 17, Petaling Jaya. I was late hence by the time I got there, all I had was bits and pieces of food served. I didn't get to mingle much too (very sorry people!) as I was sitting at the non food blogger's table plus when I started mingling, I realised I kinda lost my voice with all the shouting I had to do to be heard. Sigh! Apologies to those who were there, whom I didn't meet. Special thanks to Lyrical Lemongrass, Precious Pea and ... read more
