Lyrical Lemongrass writes: We had an afternoon packed with activities and our schedule was very tight.  3.00pm:  Wake up from afternoon siesta.  4.00pm: Get flowers.  4.30pm:  Laundry.  5.00pm: Check venue for party next weekend.  6.30pm: Visit mum and dad.  8.30pm: Dinner with family. At 4.30pm, as we were driving towards our next destination, the husband spotted a new restaurant at Lorong Kurau, Bangsar. “Let’s drive past it,” he suggested. “Okay.”  It would only take an additional minute. “It’s a Thai restaurant,” he said. “Do you feel like stopping for a quick snack?” My eyes lit up.  Thankfully, my husband and I are like two peas in a pod (except that I’m not bald and he is) and we’re both adventurous in our food explorations. It would ... read more

a taste of Malaysia

Malaysia

team bsg writes: Many European travellers congregate in Pantai Cenang, one of the more popular beaches in duty free Langkawi Island. At night the main street takes on a bright carnival atmosphere with all the bright lights you tend to associate with an Xciting & happening place. We were pleasantly surprised at the range and variety of fine eating establishments here ; Arabic , Moghul , Irish , Italian , Chinese , Thai etc , etc . The choice is very wide indeed .Towards the Casa del Mar Hotel from the Underwater World on a warm hungry night ( Langkawi is reputed to have one of the warmest climates in Malaysia ), you will probably be ... read more

Review: Sin Lok Restaurant

Malaysia

SL - Sin Lok Restaurant
babe_kl writes: **Non-Halal**Sin Lok Restaurant is amongst the older generation of Chinese restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. It is located in Kuala Lumpur's first shopping complex - Ampang Park! One of our manager used to bring our client nearby Ampang Park to Sin Lok for lunch. If I'm around for meetings, I will get to go too hehehe... Their dishes are very much old school and by far I can vouch that they serve the best roasted suckling pig in town! I guess the reason being that they will only roast it before serving even during huge wedding banquet!... read more

Tomoe3
boo_licious writes: tomoe's signboard - check out the wildlife aka the lizard on the sideLast Friday, I was feeling a tad depressed since I was working on Saturday! Feeling like a boost in my system, I suggested we try Japanese in Subang Jaya - an unexplored territory for me. Original intent was Shun, opposite Subang Jaya Medical Centre but there was a function at the nearby Sheraton Subang ballroom, which caused a mini traffic jam plus a shortage of carparks around the area.pretty condiments set on the tableChanging tactics, we decided ... read more

Review: Restaurant Hung Kee

Malaysia

HK - sui kow
babe_kl writes: **Non-Halal**One evening I wanted to eat wantan mee but it's hard to find good wantan mee at that hour. I know most will ended up at the Sungai Besi wantan mee but seriously their quality seems to have really gone down the drain that I won't grade it as wantan mee anymore. Suddenly I recalled Restaurant Hung Kee is opened at night now but not sure if they serve wantan mee cause they also serves dai chow (stir fry) dishes and noodles. So hubby suggested we take a gamble.Boy as I walked in the place, I was really glad to see char siu (bbq pork), siew yuk (roasted pork) and roast chicken hanging on the ... read more

Mee Goreng Jalil @ Sungai Ara

Malaysia

mee goreng sungai ara
vkeong writes: This is what I am craving for here at Seri Kembangan, a good plate of mee goreng. In Penang, you can find mee goreng stalls almost anywhere whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I have never seen any stall so far over here, sigh. Mee goreng is almost non-existent here! Actually I have blogged about mee Jalil before but it looked really bad because it was take away. Now that the presentation is so much nicer, I am sure you will be more tempted to try it. Mr. Jalil has been selling his signature noodles in Sungai Ara (which is also the place ... read more

UC - Uncle Chili
babe_kl writes: Not to be mistaken with the other Uncle Chili's at PJ Hilton, this Uncle Chili is located at the basement of Amcorp Mall. It basically serves local dishes especially Chinese style dishes and best of all it's halal. The last I went there with my clients, they ran the place from a double shoplot but now they have expanded. I've tasted their Chinese dishes and find they're delicious. This time we ordered single portion meal instead since it was just the two of us. Hubby ordered his usual nasi lemak (RM5.50). I tasted the nasi lemak and find the sambal ... read more

boo_licious writes: Reunion appetizerBusy! Busy! Busy! Sorry but the blog has been sadly ignored these few days...Nevertheless the eating still continues though. My uncle and his family are down from Hong Kong and China these few days for Ching Ming. We did the deed yesterday - easy and painless as there were no crowds of people jostling for space in the cemetery. Am amazed at how clean the Hokkien cemetery looks now. Almost could not recognise it.Chicken herbal soupWe had this last night, since we didn't want to travel too far. My first time trying out the food from Reunion's menu. I love the mirrors, sheer curtains ... read more

Lyrical Lemongrass writes: 1. It was the world’s cheapest sang har meen.  Or at least, that’s what it appeared to me in my well-protected cocoon. At only RM8.50 a plate with some fresh juicy prawns thrown into a lovely eggy sauce, I certainly had no complaints. I am not sure if I shall be able to find this coffee shop again on my own though. Ecstatic Eeyore had led me through a maze of shops quite like the catacombs of Rome, where amidst some beauty salons and shops selling cheap nail polish and hair products, there stood a coffee shop, rather displaced in the surroundings. It was a real coffee shop, not one of ... read more
