authentically changing

team bsg writes: We still love this sentimental dark run down backlane in the famous Lucky Gardens, Bangsar. The corner one. Our third time eating from the tiny stall selling the mildly spicy santany sourish big Sarawak Laksa with the distinctive sexy curved prawns tails up.Still looking very very pretty, as we know heralthough the wonderful thrills and senses seem jaded this time...all for love @RM5A signature team bsg gastronomic ... read more

sister's char koay teow
vkeong writes: So, I went and tried Sister’s Char Koay Teow in McAlister Road before I left Penang. It it said to be one of the best char koay teow in Penang, with a notorious reputation of being overpriced and arrogant. I even heard that you would be charged for not ordering a drink in the coffee shop. I had to see it for myself to confirm this. The coffee shop was pretty empty when I went there. Only a few tables were seated and it didn’t seem as busy as I expected, since it’s supposed to be famous and all. To ... read more

all forgiven

Malaysia

team bsg writes: Its like a kind of time warp.People zooming across the Highway at 145 kph passing by quickly mostly. They either go straight to Ipoh or turn right to Pangkor.People will tell you , there's nothing here except peace & quiet. Maybe the rain if you are lucky . Things are pretty old here, like the first Museum , earliest Hill Station , da pioneer Golf Course and so on.We have heard , in fact tried some shops in KL/PJ ( USJ Taipan ) though proudly announcing its quaint charms like the fish balls , popiah and some kind of noodles. There has got to be something good right ... read more

Taman Indah Balakong Pan Meen
babe_kl writes: **Non-Halal**Last Friday, hubby and I were not working. However, we both woke up early to go for a walk. Aduiii he took me to this private land wayyyyy inside Bandar Sg Long and climb the hill backing Ulu Langat! I was cursing and swearing as I was totally not fit for the steep climb plus it's so embarrassing to have old folks over taking me!!! After huffing and puffing our way up and down, we got down to the foothill around 8am. I was famished but luckily my legs didn't buckled. On our way back, I got him to bring me to Balakong (the pekan side) for pan meen (board noodles). I only ... read more

boo_licious writes: hubba bubba - the shrimp has now landed in MalaysiaAlthough this place just opened a few weeks ago, the blogosphere seems flooded with reviews already. I'm kinda not surprised as it was super packed on Saturday, when we dined there. We scored a pretty good seat inside since we were early but I did spy loads of people dining outside on the deck.Gosh...it is huge!Located just above The Gourmet House at the Curve, the restaurant occupies two floors, with a souvenir shop at the side. Loads of Forrest Gump memorabilia is displayed on the walls, tables and everywhere else - we sat just at ... read more

Marmite Prawns
babe_kl writes: Let's go for seafood today...I made Marmite Prawns without following any recipe, just pakai hentam (simply guess) only. Let me recall what I put inside the sauce. I have 6 large prawns and some spring onions chopped to about 2 inches in length. For the sauce, 1 heap teaspoon Marmite, a few dashes of Worcestershire Sauce, 1 teaspoon sugar or to taste, and about 4-5 tablespoons water - mix them all together (taste it now and adjust either by adding sugar or more Marmite according to your liking).First, I dried the prawns with paper towel and lightly sprinkle some salt and pepper; plus some cornflour to dry them further. I fried the prawns ... read more

boo_licious writes: Sizzling goodnessIt has been a while since we dined at Formosa hence with the long break, we finally managed to sit down for a meal there. This time round, we sampled a few of their new dishes, which were amazing as always. Apologies for the less than perfect pictures as my camera still has an issue with yellow light and low light situations. Definitely time to upgrade the camera. Any sponsors?Go away! I'm protecting treasure under thisBack to Formosa's home cooked goodness. Having grown up eating at Formosa, I often view this place as a source for goodies similar to a home ... read more

seafood meal
vkeong writes: You won’t believe where I went to celebrate my last Valentine’s day. It wasn’t at any fancy Western restaurant nor a romantic candle light dinner. Partly because most of the restaurants in Penang were already fully booked a few days ahead. So, we decided to have a seafood feast at Bali Hai Seafood Market - a seafood restaurant along Gurney Drive. We thought that the money would be better spent on seafood than lamb or steaks. And boy, did we make a helluva good decision! Before the showing the foods I ate, let me give you a tour of the seafoods Bali Hai has to offer.... read more

a taste of Malaysia

Malaysia

team bsg writes: Many European travellers congregate in Pantai Cenang, one of the more popular beaches in duty free Langkawi Island. At night the main street takes on a bright carnival atmosphere with all the bright lights you tend to associate with an Xciting & happening place. We were pleasantly surprised at the range and variety of fine eating establishments here ; Arabic , Moghul , Irish , Italian , Chinese , Thai etc , etc . The choice is very wide indeed .Towards the Casa del Mar Hotel from the Underwater World on a warm hungry night ( Langkawi is reputed to have one of the warmest climates in Malaysia ), you will probably be ... read more
