Review: Restaurant Wong Fook Kee

Malaysia

WFK - Duck and harm choy soup
babe_kl writes: On the day I posted up the Harm Choy Tong (Pickled Mustard Cabbage Soup), I was secretly hoping for a bowl to warm me up on that super cold afternoon (it was raining heavily that day). Sighhh but have to wait for weekend before I could cook another pot. Fate would have it when we decided to drop by Restaurant Wong Fook Kee at Tengkat Tong Shin. Whilst ordering, they ask if we wanted any soup, hubby asked what kinda soup. When the words "harm choy ngarp" (pickled mustard cabagge and duck soup) came up, hubby quickly said yes... hahaha he's a soup lover. Later I confessed to him that I was hoping for some that afternoon and he ... read more

Tomoe3
boo_licious writes: tomoe's signboard - check out the wildlife aka the lizard on the sideLast Friday, I was feeling a tad depressed since I was working on Saturday! Feeling like a boost in my system, I suggested we try Japanese in Subang Jaya - an unexplored territory for me. Original intent was Shun, opposite Subang Jaya Medical Centre but there was a function at the nearby Sheraton Subang ballroom, which caused a mini traffic jam plus a shortage of carparks around the area.pretty condiments set on the tableChanging tactics, we decided ... read more

Hairy Crabs at King Crab, PJ

Malaysia

Tai lake hairy crab
Lyrical Lemongrass writes: When it rains, it pours, so the saying goes. Days after my last crab feast, I was going to eat crabs again. Cholestrol cholestrol cholestrol, my mind repeated those words. A battle between Jekyll and Hyde ensued, but the other side won easily. My eyes glistened and my heart skipped a beat as I saw the sumptuous hairy crabs laid out before us. We soon found out that not all hairy crabs were created equal. It is important to know the source of the crabs, and we ... read more

Hairy Crabs @ King Crab, Petaling Jaya

Malaysia

boo_licious writes: Hairy Crab from Tai Woo LakeMeet Hairy! I met him for the first time last Friday. A jet setter, he flies in from China every week. A real popular dude, he gets swamped with fans especially during the months from October to January. I met two cousins that day - one from Tai Woo Lake (RM78++ per crab) and the other from the famous Yang Cheng Lake (RM88++ per crab). Hairy Crab from Yang Cheng LakeThe fella from Yang Cheng Lake even came with a tag with a number on it. Seems if you want to check if it originates from that lake, you can ... read more

Neighbourhood Coffeeshop

Malaysia

teckiee writes: I had lunch with Kusahi-san yesterday and coincidently he mentioned about corner coffee shops near Equine Park's Jaya Jusco. I will most probably be moving out of my beloved P.J home to that far far away place in Serdang. ....wait... I think that place is even further than Serdang. Anyway, my parents have been checking on the renovation work progress for weeks now, sometimes I tag along sometimes just to make sure they have the opinion of the 'younger people' opinion because they tend to over look some issues ;p Where to eat near by? Well, this coffee shop is a 5 minute drive from my soon to be home. This nice clean ... read more

When I told my colleagues about this restaurant name, they asked me if I was going for bird’s nest. LOL! During that evening, Desmond told us that the restaurant name came from a congkak he owns. He didn’t place the bird congkak in the restaurant ... read more

Fruits Festival

Malaysia

boo_licious writes: Last weekend, Splashie Boy's company held a Fruits Festival in aid of charity. It was great fun as there were loads of fruits to choose from. It was quite obvious though which particular fruit was the most popular - the King of fruits aka the Durian. Everyone made a beeline for it and it finished quickly. Even a second reload of durians saw everyone scrambling to get their share. What amazed me was the people who organised the fair had a special machine to open durians. Essentially a drilling machine, they had adapted it with a metal spike at the end of the drill which could be used to ... read more
